"If music be the food of love, play on." Shakespeare
Music can affect our mood and emotions, bring back memories and feelings.
There are sounds and noises that we like and dislike, perhaps due to the associations with what causes the sounds affecting us a little like Pavlov's dogs.
Along with general sounds, there are songs and music that can affect our moods. Like how classical music can stir your emotions, without words. Or how some songs seem to have been written about what you are going through at the time, appear to speak to you, reach out to you.
People have different tunes that they would like to listen to when they are in different moods. Some songs can make you cry, while others you might want to listen to cheer or lift you up. Relaxing music for chilling out to, or energetic songs that you want to sing along to, dance and jump about to, for aerobics exercise for example.
Our taste in music is personal, which is why sometimes one generation does not always recognize the music of another generation. Some people like to dance to loud music, or like the deep bass sounds that vibrate their whole bodies, while others would rather you "turn down that noise, some of us are trying to sleep here".
We all have memories that are associated with certain songs or music. Such events things as a first record bought, a favorite song, a special concert or performance seen live, or songs that have some significance to your life.
Isn't music great? [No I can't think of an ending to this post. :)]
